Black, White & Grey

There are three levels of realization that I am aware of so far,

  1. Treating the world as if it’s black and white

  2. Realizing the world is actually more of shades of grey

  3. Drawing a line in the sand and calling whatever is on one side white and the other side black.

We start with a very rigid view of the world

Then we realize if we are lucky that not everything is as rigid as we imagined.

There are more nuances to everything we do than we care to admit or like.

But this paralyzes us. This makes us indecisive. The issue is not the newfound information, it's just that we do not have the capacity or the time to evaluate various shades of grey in any and every given situation.

It would greatly benefit us if we move to the next phase and fairly arbitrarily, hopefully with some sense and logic draw a line in the sea of greys and label what's black and what's white.

Although, this is a tremendous reduction of reality. This will greatly help us to make things simple and be more decisive. This will help us to be more action-oriented.
